You Said, We Did – Summary

The Information Services ‘You Said, We Did’ campaign highlights the impact student feedback has across Library and IT resulting in real, student-led, change.

Here are some examples of what we’ve done in response to your feedback. Click on the titles for more information.

Cyber Security

You said… Provide more cyber security information.

We did… In 2018 we ran three targeted campaigns on social media. See #StirCyberSec for more info.

Wellbeing

You said… More comfortable areas and a place to go when stressed.

We did… We created a dedicated wellbeing space in the Library with comfy seating.

Library Building

You said… the Library is too cold and we need more seats for exam study.

We did… You can now borrow a blanket while you are in the Library and we added 30+ seats in the Library during exam time.

Library and IT Services

You said… We would like more training in Library and IT Services.

We did… We created Learn How to Use Canvas, continued to subscribe to Lynda.com and ran the Essential Student Guide to Library and IT at the start of semester.

Turnitin Plagiarism Checker

You said… Allow us to see our plagiarism score when we submit work.

We did… We added a Turnitin Similarity Checking Space to your modules in Canvas.

Printing

You said… Make it easier to print from our own devices.

We did… We have instructions to help you easily connect your laptop or mobile device to the print system.

Email

You said… I would like to access my email after I graduate.

We did… We now offer all students access to their University of Stirling email account for two years after graduation.

FAQs

You said… There should be somewhere we can access FAQs.

We did… We have FAQs in UniDesk Self-Service which we add to regularly.

Software

You said… Can we get free software for studying?

We did… Yes. You can get access for free to Office 365, SPSS, Amos, ArcGIS, Minitab, Nvivo, Mindgenius and Online Surveys.

PC Availability on Campus

You said… It’s hard to find a free computer.

We did… We created a web page with live information on PC availability on campus.

Buy more books

You said… buy more books

We did… In 2018, we added over 30,000 eBooks to the collection.

Lecture Capture

You said… Improve lecture capture

We did… We replaced the software behind the Listen Again service with a new video platform, Panopto.

Cloud Storage

You said… Can we get free cloud storage?

We did… Yes – you can access Box, the University’s cloud-based storage facility.

Journals

You said… Can we have a better way to search for journals.

We did… We introduced BrowZine and we revamped the journal search on the Library Catalogue.

We did… We love to help you! There are a number of places you can get help such as the Library reception, the Library Lending Desk, the IT Help Desk at the Information Centre.
