Changes to how you access email.

As part of our on-going programme of security enhancements, we have already made some changes to the way that email is accessed in order to remove less secure methods of accessing your university email account that do not enforce MFA (multi factor authentication).

Microsoft is increasing the security of Office 365 which will now result in loss of ActiveSync capabilities for Android and Apple devices. This means that if you currently use anything other than the Outlook app to access your university email/calendar (for example, the in-built mail app on your phone, or third-party apps such as Gmail, etc.) these will stop working.

Therefore, the Outlook app is now the only supported solution to access your university mailbox and any shared mailboxes on your mobile device, and the Information Centre is unable to provide support for other methods of accessing email.  You can find out how to download and configure the Outlook app for your device by visiting UniDesk Self Service.

You will still be able to access your email in a web browser via the portal or via office.com.

This change is happening on Thursday 20 January 2022.

If you have any questions about this, please log a call to the Information Centre using UniDesk Self Service.
