Summer Graduation 2026: Library and IT Checklist

As you get ready to graduate, make sure you don’t lose access to anything important. Here’s what to do before you leave Stirling.

Email

You can keep your University email for up to 2 years after graduation, but you need to opt in via your portal before you leave. See Can I access email after leaving the uni? for more information.

Save your files

Download or back up anything from OneDrive that you want to keep. If you’re not continuing at Stirling, you’ll lose access after graduation. See OneDrive on graduation for all the details.

Office apps

Access to Microsoft Office ends when you graduate. You can subscribe yourself or switch to free alternatives.

Print credit

Any remaining print/copy credit (£5 minimum) can be transferred to another student. Free or departmental credit can’t be transferred. Visit Print/copy balance on graduation for advice on how to do this.

References (RefWorks/EndNote)

Set up alumni access (RefWorks) or export your references to another tool before you lose access. For further guidance see Graduating – RefWorks LibGuide.

EndNote must be removed unless you arrange your own licence or export your work. Further information can be found in our Graduating – EndNote LibGuide.

Library items

Return any borrowed books, laptops, and MFA tokens, and make sure any fines are cleared.

Canvas work

Download copies of your submitted assignments if you want to keep them. In Canvas click on Account -> Files -> click on the 3 dots to the right of the Submissions folder -> select Download.

LinkedIn Learning

Link your University account to your personal LinkedIn to keep your learning history (you’ll lose free access to courses). Information on how to connect your Learning account and personal profile can be found on LinkedIn’s Connecting your LinkedIn profile guide.

If you have any questions about your IT/Library account, please contact the Information Centre by email on information.centre@stir.ac.uk or fill in our Ask IT Form on UniDesk.

Finally, Information Services wishes you the very best for the future. You’re always welcome to return to the library for a visit, and if you’d like to borrow books, you can apply for Alumni Membership.

Congratulations on your graduation!
