University Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 12 March 2026, bringing universities across the UK together to focus on student wellbeing and the importance of looking after our mental health.
Run by Student Minds and the University Mental Health Advisers Network, the annual campaign encourages students, staff and universities to talk openly about mental health and build supportive campus communities.
This year’s theme: Human Connection
The theme for 2026 is Human Connection, highlighting how meaningful relationships and social interaction can play an important role in supporting positive mental health.
For many students, university can be both exciting and challenging. Academic pressures, adjusting to a new environment and balancing different commitments can sometimes make it difficult to stay connected. University Mental Health Day is a reminder that small moments of connection – checking in with a friend, joining a campus activity or reaching out for support – can make a real difference.
