As we take part in the National Year of Reading, we’re celebrating the many ways reading can support your wellbeing. Reading isn’t just for study — it can offer comfort, inspiration, a sense of calm, and a much‑needed break from the daily busyness of university life.
Explore Our Wellbeing Collections
In the Library Wellbeing Space on level 2, you’ll find two dedicated collections designed to support your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing:
- Health & Wellbeing Collection – covering topics such as mindfulness, managing stress, sleep, healthy habits, confidence, resilience, and more.
- Reading for Wellbeing Collection – a mix of uplifting fiction, reflective memoirs, poetry, and gentle reads chosen to help you unwind, find comfort, or escape into a good story.
These collections are open for everyone to browse, whether you’re looking for guidance, motivation, or simply a restorative moment in your day.
Book Swap in the Library Wellbeing Space
You can also take part in our book swap on level 2 — a simple and sociable way to share books you love and discover new ones. Bring a book, take a book, and enjoy the way stories connect us.
Support Your Local Library

National Year of Reading – If you’re into it, read into it
The National Year of Reading encourages everyone to enjoy reading in all its forms — novels, poetry, graphic novels, audiobooks, essays, or anything in between. Reading can help reduce stress, build empathy, and support your wellbeing throughout the year.
We hope this year gives you the space to explore reading in new ways — and to make time for it as part of your own wellbeing routine.
