The Library Wellbeing Space: Do You Know It’s There?

Tucked away inside the library in the short loan collection on level 2 (entrance level) is a space designed for something we all need a little more of: breathing room. The Library Wellbeing Space was created as a calm, restorative area where you can pause, reset, and take care of your mental wellbeing in the middle of a busy day.

AND!!! #DidYouKnow the Wellbeing Space used to be the library staff room? Yep — our staff literally sacrificed their comfy retreat so everyone else could chill instead. That’s next‑level kindness… or they really wanted to escape each other. 😉🌿

But here’s the big question we’re asking ourselves: do our users actually know it’s there?
And if you do know about it… is it a space you already use and love?

That’s where you come in.

A space shaped by you

The Wellbeing Space is meant to feel different from the rest of the library. It’s quieter, softer, and more reflective — a place to step away from deadlines, screens, and pressure. Some students pop in for a few minutes of calm between classes; others stay longer to recharge. But we know everyone experiences spaces differently, and what works for one person might not work for another.

We don’t want to make assumptions about what you want. We want to hear it directly from you.

Share your thoughts — it only takes a minute

We’re collecting feedback in a quick, low-effort way: a graffiti wall in the main stairwell of the library. No forms, no logins, no long surveys — just your honest thoughts.

We’re asking a few simple questions:

  • Keep it! tell us one thing you like about it.
  • Change it! tell us one thing you’d change.
  • Add it! Tell us one thing you’d add.

You can keep it realistic, imaginative, or somewhere in between. Maybe it’s plants, softer lighting, different seating, calming sounds, more creative materials, or something we haven’t even thought of yet. Big ideas and small tweaks are equally welcome.

Why your feedback matters

We genuinely take user feedback seriously. In the past, your suggestions have helped us make positive changes across the library — from improving study spaces to adjusting services and resources. When you tell us what works (and what doesn’t), it helps us make better decisions that reflect how students actually use the library.

With your input, the Wellbeing Space can continue to grow into something meaningful — not just a nice idea, but a place students truly value.

So next time you’re in the library, keep an eye out for the graffiti wall in the main stairwell. Take a moment, grab a pen, and let us know what you think.

With your voice, the library can remain a place students love to be 💚
