ALT Learning Technology Team of the Year

The online winter conference organised by the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) took place on the 15th and 16th of December and incorporated the annual Learning Technologist of the Year award. ALT is the leading professional body for Learning Technology in the UK and organises a number of conferences and initiatives to support the use of technology in Higher Education

The Digital Learning Team were runners up in the Learning Technology Team of the Year award based largely on work carried out from Spring 2020 onwards to support the move to online learning because of the pandemic.

The judges highlighted the collaborative approach taken by the Digital Learning Team as part of the rapid move to online delivery. The team worked with colleagues in Academic Development, faculties and other parts of Information Services to formulate the University’s approach to online learning.

As part of the team’s submission for the award the following video was produced to document the work carried out in 2020.

We would like to congratulate the Supporting Student Learning Online project team at Heriot Watt University for winning the team award, along with University of Stirling alumni Mark Wilkie of the University of the Highlands and Islands for his third place finish in the individual Learning Technologist of the Year award.
