The Library has lots of ebooks to support your university studies. They are all listed in the library catalogue, LibrarySearch. Wondering how they work? Read on.
Accessing and reading ebooks
Whenever possible, we buy ebooks which can be used by a whole class of students at the same time, but sometimes this isn’t possible. Some ebooks can only be used by a limited number of students at the same time. If you try to access an ebook where the maximum number of users has been reached, you’ll need to try again later (some ebook suppliers allow you to register your interest and you’ll be notified when the book is available).
Having problems accessing ebooks from your reading list?
Try using a laptop or PC, rather than your phone. We know that there are sometimes problems accessing ebooks via mobile app.
Downloading ebooks
As well as reading online, you can also download some ebooks for reading offline. Typically, you can download for a day, but the download period may be shorter if the book has limited access and it is a core text on a reading list. Many Kortext ebooks for 3 concurrent users can only be downloaded for 2 hours. Downloaded books will automatically expire after the loan period is up. If you’ve finished with a book, please consider ‘returning’ it early so someone else can use it.
Some ebooks require you to install special software on your device before downloading. See our Ebooks libguide for help.
Printing
You can usually print from ebooks, but there is sometimes a limit to how much you can print, e.g. 10% of the book. You won’t be able to print beyond that limit.
