The Spring exam period is on the way… and the Library is ready to be your study sidekick.
Whether you’re all about pin-drop silence or prefer a background buzz, we’ve got a space that works for you.
Level 3 = Silent Mode Activated
From Thursday, 2 April, Level 3 is going fully silent to help you focus when it matters most.

Think of it as your no-distractions zone:
- 🤐 Keep noise to an absolute minimum
- 🎧 Headphones in for music or videos
- 💬 Save chats and group work for other areas
It’s one of our most in-demand spaces during exams – so thanks for helping keep it calm for everyone.
Not a Silent Studier? No Problem
If you work better with others (or just need to talk things through), head to:
- 📅 Bookable group study rooms
- 🗣️ Collaborative spaces on Level 2
Just remember – Level 3 is strictly silent from 2 April.

If Noise Becomes an Issue
We know how important the right environment is during exams. If you’re being disturbed by noise on Levels 3 or 4, please let us know so we can help:
📧 Email us at library.reception@stir.ac.uk
📍 Or speak to staff at the library reception desk in person
We’ll do our best to keep study spaces comfortable for everyone.
Take a Break (Seriously, Do It)
Studying non-stop isn’t the vibe. Recharge and reset with:
- 🛋️ Comfy seating areas
- 💛 The Library Wellbeing Space
- 📖 Our Reading for Leisure collection
- 🧩 Library jigsaws
Even a short break can make a big difference.

Snacks = Yes. Strong Smells = No.
Keep yourself fuelled, but be kind to your fellow students:
- ✅ Covered drinks and snacks are welcome
- 🚫 No hot or smelly food please
- 🧹 Tidy up when you’re done

You’ve Got This
We know exam time can feel intense, but you don’t have to do it alone.
Take it one step at a time, use the spaces around you, and don’t forget to look after yourself along the way.
