Shifting the Narrative – Now on Display in the Library
Earlier this month, we were delighted to launch Shifting the Narrative: Feminist Stories and Perspectives — a new reading list created in collaboration with the FEM Society, celebrating feminist voices across genres and disciplines.
You can browse the list here:
Shifting the Narrative: Feminist Stories and Perspectives
Since then, it’s been fantastic to see so many of you exploring the list, borrowing titles, and starting conversations inspired by these powerful works.
See the reading list brought to life
To make it even easier to engage with the collection, we’ve now created a dedicated book display in the Library, featuring a selection of titles from the reading list.
Located in the Library, the display brings together a range of voices — from classic feminist texts to contemporary writing — all in one place. Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding, find a new perspective, or simply discover your next read, this is a great place to start.
All books on display are available to borrow in the usual way, so feel free to take something that catches your eye.
Upcoming event: FEM Society Book Group

To celebrate Women’s History Month, the FEM Society are hosting an exciting FEM Book Group in the library.
From the FEM Society:
Do you enjoy reading and connecting with others? Join us for a welcoming and thought-provoking book club session, delivered in collaboration with Information Services.
Together, we’ll be discussing Sultana’s Dream by Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain – a powerful and imaginative short story exploring gender and society. Tea and sweet treats will be provided, so you can relax, read, and chat in a friendly space.
Let’s take some time to read, connect, and share ideas.

Keep the conversation going
The Shifting the Narrative reading list was created to amplify diverse feminist perspectives and encourage ongoing exploration. The new display and upcoming events are just the next steps in that journey.
Whether you pick up a book, join the discussion, or simply stop by the display, we hope you’ll continue to engage with these stories — and help keep the conversation going.
