Get ready to go green and get involved!
Green Week (9–13 March) is your chance to celebrate sustainability, active travel, biodiversity and waste reduction with staff, students and our local community. Whether you’re keen to explore nature, learn something new, or make a positive impact, there’s plenty to spark your interest this week.
Join Us at the Sustainable & Active Travel Fayre
Digital Cleanup Day: 21 March
As part of Green Week, Information Services (Library & IT) will be attending the Sustainable & Active Travel Fayre to promote Digital Cleanup Day. This is a great opportunity to find out more about how your digital habits impact the environment, learn practical tips for reducing your digital footprint, and ask any questions about managing storage in OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
For more information and guides to get started, see our Digital Cleanup Day blog post.
Adopt a Spider Plant
We’ll also be giving away (or rather, inviting you to adopt) some much-loved spider plants (while stocks last). Grown and cared for by our in-house library plant enthusiast, we’re looking forward to seeing them head off to new homes across campus. A small plant can make a big difference – brightening study spaces, boosting wellbeing, and sharing a little bit of library care beyond our walls. 🌱
If you adopt one, we’d love to see it settling in! Snap a photo of your plant in its new habitat – on your desk, by your window, or keeping watch over your revision notes – and let us know what you name it and how it’s getting on. Bonus points for dramatic “before and after” glow-ups or a creative plant pun. We can’t wait to see our leafy library family grow!

Book Display & Reading List
During Green Week, you can explore our specially curated Green Week book display in the Library. We’ve also created a Green Week Reading List featuring a selection of titles covering a range of sustainability topics – perfect if you’re looking to learn more or be inspired to take action.

Book Swap
Pick up a book from our free book swap located in the Library Wellbeing Space. Swapping books is a great way to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By exchanging books, we can extend each book’s life, reduce demand for new books, and minimise the environmental impact of book production and disposal. It’s an eco-friendly way to share knowledge and enjoy new reads without contributing to deforestation and carbon emissions.
BoB (Box of Broadcasts)
We’ve selected some playlists on BoB (Box of Broadcasts) that you can access to find content on sustainability topics. Explore these playlists to learn more about sustainability and how you can make a positive impact:
Green Week Spotlight: Stirling Reuse Hub and their brilliant Library of Things
As part of Green Week, we’re celebrating one of Stirling’s most inspiring sustainability spaces: the Stirling Reuse Hub and especially their fantastic Library of Things.
As a library, we love the idea that borrowing doesn’t have to stop at books. At the Library of Things, you can borrow all sorts of useful items from DIY tools and gardening equipment to camping gear, kitchen appliances, and more. It’s a simple, sustainable way to access what you need without buying something you’ll only use once.

Pair that with the Hub’s amazing range of pre‑loved furniture, household goods, upcycled items, and community workshops, and you’ve got a space that champions reuse, creativity, and a circular economy right here in Stirling.
📍 Stirling Reuse Hub 4 Borrowmeadow Road, FK7 7UW 🕒 Open Wed–Sat 10am–5pm, Sun 11am–4pm
This Green Week, let’s celebrate borrowing, sharing, and reusing — it’s what we do best.
