Emerald access issues – workarounds

There are currently issues accessing content on the Emerald Publishing website. After their recent site relaunch, that hasn’t gone as smoothly as planned:

  • The option to use Emerald’s ‘Sign in via Institution’ option is not working
  • Links from LibrarySearch to Emerald journals and articles are not working

While Emerald and our LibrarySearch supplier work on permanent fixes – here’s the workarounds we’ve put in place so that you can continue to access Emerald content:

1. Access Emerald via our A-Z list of online resources – and there will be no need to use Emerald’s ‘Sign in via Institution’ option

2. Use this special url to access Emerald http://ezproxy.stir.ac.uk/login?url=https://www.emerald.com – and there will be no need to use Emerald’s ‘Sign in via Institution’ option

3. When using LibrarySearch, if you find articles in Emerald Collections – instead of using the link to the collection, use the ‘Download PDF’ option:

4. When using LibrarySearch, if you find journals in Emerald Collections – use the link in the special note to get authenticated access to the site:

5. Download the LibKey Nomad browser extension – then when you are browsing the web and come across Emerald content you can use the ‘Authenticated Access’ button that will automatically pop-up:

Emerald and our LibrarySearch supplier are working to fix the underlying issues causing these problems. They hope to have fixes in place by the end of July.
