Reading for Wellbeing

As Wellbeing Week approaches, we invite you to explore the profound impact that reading can have on your mental and emotional health. Whether you’re seeking solace, inspiration, or a simple escape from the daily grind, the library has curated a range of activities and resources to support your journey towards better wellbeing. See our blog post for all the wellbeing activities and resources available in the library.

Wellbeing Reading List and Book Display

Our Wellbeing Reading List is thoughtfully curated to include a variety of books that promote mental and emotional health. We’ve added a special section dedicated to mood-boosting books. These uplifting titles, recommended by readers and reading groups, are perfect for lifting your spirits and providing a much-needed escape. Visit our book display at the library entrance to browse some of the collection in person. The book display will be available during Wellbeing Week (Monday, 24th to Friday, 28th February).

Book Swap in the Wellbeing Space

One of the highlights of our Wellbeing Week is the book swap in the Library Wellbeing Space. Located on level 2 of the library. The book swap is a fantastic way to save money, recycle old books, and discover new reads. Simply bring a book and take a book from our book swap bookcase. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share your favourite reads with others and find new favourites to enjoy.

Silent Reading Group

Join our Silent Reading Group every Friday from 12-1pm in the cosy nook on the left as you enter the library. This tranquil space is perfect for immersing yourself in a good book while enjoying the company of fellow book lovers. It’s a great way to carve out some quiet time for yourself and make reading a regular part of your wellbeing routine.

Sign Up for a Stirling Libraries Card

If you haven’t already, consider signing up for a Stirling Libraries card. With a library card, you gain access to a wealth of resources, including books, ebooks, and audiobooks. Whether you’re looking for the latest bestsellers or other leisure reading materials, Stirling Libraries has something for everyone. Plus, it’s free to join! Visit your local Stirling library or sign up online today to start enjoying all the benefits of being a library member.

It’s important to note that a Stirling Libraries card will give you access to several local public libraries, distinct from the academic library at the University of Stirling. While the university library focuses on academic resources and research materials, Stirling Libraries offers a broader range of materials for leisure reading and community activities. Both provide valuable services, but a Stirling Libraries card will give you access to a different set of resources tailored to the needs of the local community.

We hope you take advantage of these resources and activities during Wellbeing Week. Happy reading, and here’s to a week filled with relaxation, inspiration, and improved wellbeing!
