RefWorks – temporary access issue

Some users are experiencing an access issue with RefWorks via the ‘login from my institution’ option. This is affecting a number of universities. RefWorks is working on a solution. In the meantime you are recommended to try the following:

  1. Clear your browser cookies and cache (see how at : ) or try using a different Internet browser e.g. if you use Chrome, try Edge.
  2. If you usually use new RefWorks ( with the ‘login from my institution’ option, set up a personal user name and password instead. See how.
  3. If you usually use Legacy RefWorks from the Resources section in Portal, upgrade to New RefWorks and create a personal user name and password. Legacy RefWorks will be withdrawn soon, so this is a good time to change. See how to Upgrade to New RefWorks.
    IMPORTANT: if you are working on a long document e.g. dissertation or thesis, contact the library for advice prior to upgrading your account.
