Need to borrow a device for study?

The University Library has a number of laptop loan options available to students

Short term laptop loans (4 hours) – for use in the Library or elsewhere on campus

The laptop loans machines are located on level 2 of the library, one near the library entrance, and the other is located on the wall backing onto the short loan space. These are self-service lockers – you use your student card to release a device from the lockers.

Watch the above video or see our handy guides on borrowing and returning a laptop from the lockers.

Laptops are provided fully charged for use and can be taken into one of the many additional study places out with the library, located across the campus. Laptops are not issued with a charger or bag. This is a free service, however, fines will be incurred for late returns.

Please see our FAQ for further information.

Digital Poverty Scheme – long term loan laptop

To combat digital poverty, the University has invested in a bank of laptops that students can borrow on a long-term basis for the entire academic year. Those who are without a suitable device for university study can apply via the University Hardship fund.  When your application has been approved by the Student Money team, IS will contact you to arrange pickup/delivery of your loan laptop.
