Service Disruption: Essential Network Maintenance, Saturday 9th January

Essential maintenance is to be carried out on the Campus networking equipment on the morning of Saturday 9th of January.  Work will commence at 08:00 and is planned to be completed by 17:00.   

During the first hour, 08:00-09:00am, the campus will be disconnected from the Internet, resulting in the following services being unavailable:

  • University websites
  • Remote desktop connections and VPN 
  • Access to any cloud systems that require account authentication (e.g. Office 365, Canvas, library resources, etc.)

Between 09:00-17:00, on-campus access to the network including Wi-Fi (e.g. eduroam, UoS Multimedia) and the Internet will be intermittent as the work progresses.

This work is part of a planned schedule of maintenance works, some of which is a backlog of tasks built up during COVID-19 and lockdown disruption.  We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but hope you will understand that such works are essential to ensure the ongoing resilience and availability of our services.
