Repair to power fault – data network implications, Thursday evening

Following on from the power cut this morning which affected the Castle end of the campus, repairs will be undertaken this evening (see message at the bottom of this post from Estates and Campus Services).

There will be further loss of network services in the following locations whilst the power repairs are carried out:

  • Airthrey Castle
  • Airthrey Castle Yard Houses
  • Airthrey Cottage
  • Alexander Court (all blocks including the townhouses and flats)
  • Gardens and Grounds
  • Sports Pavilion

The network equipment at Airthrey Castle recovered satisfactorily from the original power outage without intervention from IS staff and it is expected that it will do so again following the power loss scheduled for this evening.

Subject: UPDATE: Stirling Campus – High Voltage Fault

STIRLING CAMPUS ONLY

It has now been confirmed by Scottish Power Networks the high voltage fault this morning was as a result of a damaged electrical overhead line pole located at Powis Mains Farm, Blairlogie. A temporary repair has been undertaken and power has now been restored to the affected areas. There is a requirement for the overhead line pole to be replaced and these works will be taking place this afternoon / evening. On completion of works there will be a necessity for a further shutdown to reinstate power permanently. It is anticipated this shutdown will take no longer than one hour and occur between 19:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs this evening. At this moment in time Scottish Power are unable to provide a more accurate estimate of when this shutdown will happen. The areas that will be affected by this further shutdown will be:

  • Airthrey Castle
  • Airthrey Castle Yard Houses
  • Airthrey Cottage
  • Gardens and Grounds

We apologise for the inconvenience this outage has caused and we will provide additional information when this becomes available.
