Library resources for Midwifery – International Day of the Midwife (5th May)

5th May is the International Confederation of Midwives’ International Day of the Midwife and this event gives us a good opportunity to highlight the library’s collections for midwifery.

Both the Stirling and Highland campus libraries have extensive printed collections of books midwifery topics. In our Highland Campus Library these are located at the classmarks  WQ, WS 125 and WO 450 and in the Stirling Campus Library these books can be found at the classmark Y 25A. To search for these books in the Library Catalogue try a keyword search for midwifery, or a related topic such as childbirth, pregnancy or obstetrics. In addition to our printed midwifery books the library provides access to many electronic books in this area. To search for electronic books in the library catalogue use the keyword search option, enter a topic, e.g. midwifery and select online resources.

As well as our book collections the university library provides access to many journal articles about midwifery topics. To search for these journal articles we recomend searching the following databases: Maternity and Infant Care, MIDIRS, CINAHL and StirGate. All of these can be accessed from the A-Z list of online resources. For other recommended resources for midwifery see the library’s subject research guide for midwifery.
