Fix for frequent disconnections from CampusNet

Is your CampusNet connection unreliable? Do you find that your internet connection is constantly dropping?  You don’t have to put up with it!

Information Services are aware of an issue that can affect users with either Windows 7 or Vista who also run a third party firewall, for example Norton 360 or Norton Internet Security. This issue causes CampusNet
to dissconnect frequently, resulting in the effects above.

There are two fixes for this problem, the first fix is detailed here http://www.is.stir.ac.uk/docs/CampusNetDisconnections.pdf

The second fix is to un-install  your anti virus or internet security software, and then install another anti virus that does not include a firewall. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free anti-virus product which
is known not to cause the disconnection problem and is available on the CampusNet installation CD.
