Green Libraries Week returns from 21 to 28 October, celebrating the role libraries play in supporting sustainability and positive environmental action. Throughout the week, we’re highlighting simple ways to make a difference, support wellbeing, and connect with our community.
Free Spider Plant Giveaway
To mark Green Libraries Week, we’re once again giving away free spider plants to students and staff.
Plants can help brighten up a room, create a calmer environment, and encourage us to connect with nature, even when we’re spending long hours indoors. Our popular giveaway gives library-grown spider plants a new home while helping you add a little greenery to your study, work, or living space.
Pop into the Library on Tuesday 27 October to pick up a free spider plant, while stocks last!

Library Book Swap
Green Libraries Week is also the perfect time to visit our Library Book Swap.
By swapping a book you’ve finished for one that’s new to you, you’re helping to reduce waste, promote reuse, and share the joy of reading with others. It’s a simple, sustainable way to discover your next great read while giving someone else the chance to enjoy a book you’ve loved.
Whether you’re passionate about sustainability or simply looking for something new to read, the Book Swap is a great way to get involved.
