Microsoft is updating the web address (URL) used for OneDrive as part of a wider move to standardise its cloud services.
What’s changing?
You’ll start to see a new OneDrive URL:
- Current: stir-my.sharepoint.com
- New: onedrive.cloud.microsoft
Why?
This change creates a more consistent and recognisable Microsoft experience, helping users easily identify trusted services.
When?
- Rolling out from early July 2026
- Expected to complete by June 2027
What this means for you
- You may notice the new cloud.microsoft address in OneDrive
- No change to how you access, share, or collaborate on files
- All existing links and bookmarks will continue to work
- Both old and new URLs will work side by side
What’s not changing
- File access, permissions, and sharing
- SharePoint site URLs
- Microsoft APIs and integrations
- Personal OneDrive (which remains on the live.com domain)
Do you need to do anything?
No immediate action is required. However:
- Be aware that cloud.microsoft is a trusted Microsoft domain
- Update any internal guidance or documentation if relevant
