Round up to Women’s History Month 2025

In March, we embarked on a celebration, reflection and tales of inspiring women for Women’s History Month. This annual commemoration serves as a poignant reminder of women’s countless contributions and achievements throughout history. To honour and amplify women’s voices, our librarians curated a special book display and curated a online reading list which you can still access from here.

The theme of this years women’s history month is Moving forward together! Inspiring generations.

We invited our staff and students to share notes about the women who have made a difference in their lives and why they inspire them. The response was overwhelming and heartwarming. Many users shared stories of their mothers, grandmothers, teachers, colleagues, and friends who have shown incredible strength, wisdom, and kindness. These stories highlight the diverse ways in which women have impacted our lives and continue to inspire us every day.

One user shared how the story of Rosa Parks inspired them greatly along with their second mom who has been struggling with cancer for the past 20 years and her other mom who has been caring for her father since his stroke. Another wrote about Caragh McMutry the GB rower and founder of Neurodiverse Sport. These stories are a testament to the power of women’s influence and the importance of celebrating their contributions.

In addition to the notes, we featured a couple of displays in the library, including an International Women’s Day book display. Unfortunately, the book display is now gone, but you can still read our blog post. including accessing the reading list our librarians curated.

We also had a learner challenge from LinkedIn Learning Celebrating women which you can access from here.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and shared their stories. Your contributions have made this Women’s History Month truly special. Let’s continue to celebrate and honour the incredible women in our lives and strive to inspire future generations.

Thank you for joining us in this celebration.
