Your opinion matters, We welcome and encourage you to let us know how you can improve your library and IT experience at Stirling. With your valuable input, we can continue to provide the best possible service for you.
In this blog post we will feedback some of the suggestions and our responses that we have had over the last semester.
Make the library 24/7 please during exams.
We have looked at opening the library overnight, but the level of use would not justify the considerable resource required to provide this. We will continue to monitor user demand and review on a regular basis.
International and EU adaptors Please!
We have bought several EU/UK and US/UK adaptors. These can be borrowed from the lending desk in the library.
Please put a silencer on the bottom library door so it stops making the slamming noise.
We reported this to our colleagues in Estates and Campus Services and they resolved the issue.
Bring back the Library blankets
We brought back the library blankets, pick up a blanket as you come in the door and drop it off when you leave.
Please provide Standing desks
We already had 6 Height adjustable desks. 4 on level 2 of the library and 2 on level 4. We have put some new signage on these desks to identify them. These are multipurpose and can be used for wheelchair users or as standing desks.
Noise in the library
During the exam period would it be possible to have staff on levels 3 and 4 telling people to stop chatting? Noise levels can get very distracting due to people not whispering.
While we have limited staff and plenty to do, supporting an environment conducive to study is part of the job, especially around exam times. Staff will have no hesitation in asking anyone making unnecessary noise to desist or to go elsewhere – level 2, the study zone and the campus central area are available for users who wish to chat.
Everyone can assist in this be respecting the silent study guidance for levels 3 and 4 and by reporting any breach to the information centre, where appropriate action will be taken.
As you will have noted, the library is where “shhhh” happens.
Stationery requests
Would the library be able to provide a guillotine, large stapler and large scissors?
We have a selection of stationery supplies that can be used at the library reception or at the lending desk. Where possible we will try to accommodate these kind of requests.
