After a long hiatus, there is a new exhibition in the stairwell in the Library. As you head upstairs, pause to take a look at the 19th century editions of Sir Walter Scott’s novels, many of which have fine illustrations. The books all belong to Innerpeffray Library in Perthshire. Thanks to Stirling University research on the borrowers’ records of this library, we know that Scott’s novels were very popular with local readers in the 19th century. Some of the books have been ‘read to death’ (almost literally!).
To find out more about on the original Read to Death exhibition held at Innerpeffray Library last year, read researcher Isla Macfarlane’s blog post.
We are grateful to Innerpeffray Library for allowing us to display the books at the University.
