The Library is supporting an initiative from publisher MIT Press to enable the open access publishing of new research monographs. This means that we will have open access to new scholarly monographs published by MIT Press in 2022 (approximately 90 titles). We also now have access to the backlist from this publisher (approximately 2600 titles). These ebooks can now be accessed via LibrarySearch. If you want to see an example, search for:
Amanda G. Madden, Blended learning in practice : a guide for practitioners and researchers, 2019
As well as getting access to ebooks, we are also contributing to open access book publishing. If a researcher at Stirling (or any other university), wants to publish an open access book with MIT Press, there is no additional publication fee charged to the author or institution. The costs are met partly by the institutions who are collectively supporting the initiative, with the remaining costs being met by MIT Press.
MIT Press is a distinguished university press which publishes books and journals in the social sciences, art, design, science and technology. We now have access to monographs in both the Humanities and Social Sciences collection, and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics collection.
