University of Stirling has joined the SAGE journals transformative agreement. This means Stirling authors can publish an unlimited number of open access articles for free in SAGE’s full portfolio of hybrid journals. (Costs have already been covered by the subscription fee paid by the library).
In addition, authors publishing in any of SAGE’s fully open access journals will receive a 20% discount on the open access publication fee. Note if you are publishing in a fully Open Access journal you can apply to the University APC funds to cover the remaining cost: you should apply to the APC fund before submission.
Journals you like to publish in may be included in the agreement – see the SAGE journal titles which are popular with Stirling researchers.
The University is a member of a number of agreements supporting the move to greater open access to our research, in cost efficient ways – see our Publisher memberships and discounts page.
The full agreement:
- SAGE (1 Jan 2020 to 31 Dec 2022) – as part of a transformative agreement Stirling authors can publish an unlimited number of open access articles for free in SAGE’s full portfolio of hybrid journals (i.e. subscription journals that will make specific articles open access, normally on payment of a fee). Under the following conditions:
- the Stirling author must be the corresponding author
- certain article types are excluded, for example; book reviews, commercially sponsored articles, and titles joining mid-year
Further details:
- Collections included: Premier Journals Collection portfolio of 1,101 titles; SAGE IMechE portfolio of 18 titles; SAGE RSM portfolio of 28 titles. See the full list of journals included. See SAGE journal titles which are popular with Stirling researchers.
- A choice of CC-BY or CC-BY-NC licence will be offered (unless a funder restriction takes precedence) – we recommend the CC-BY licence.
- Authors retain copyright to all authored open access articles.
- Open access publication is free at the point of publication to the author – the costs have already been covered by the subscription fee paid by the library.
- See further details about the SAGE read & publish agreement.
In addition, authors publishing in any of SAGE’s fully open access journals will receive a 20% discount on the open access publication fee:
- There are a small number of exclusions where SAGE is contractually prevented from offering this discount. A list of excluded journals will be available from the publisher directly.
- Note if you are publishing in a fully Open Access journal you can apply to the University APC funds to cover the remaining cost: you should apply to the APC fund before submission.
- See further details about the SAGE read & publish agreement.
