New semester: new technology – introducing Box for students

Undergraduate and taught postgraduate students at all our campuses now have access to Box, our cloud storage tool which was launched on Monday 18th January 2016. Box offers our students an unlimited cloud based option for storing documents. Using Box makes it very easy to share documents and work collaborative on group projects. To find out more and read our Box FAQs please see our website.

More information about using Box and a series of Best Practice guides is available in Box in a folder called “All students: getting started with Box”.

At launch Box is available on your own (home) computers, laptops and many mobile devices. In our on-campus computer labs and study spaces it will be possible to use Box to share and view files and to edit documents using Microsoft’s online applications, e.g. Word Online, Excel Online and to upload new documents in Microsoft Office 2013 applications. It will be possible to edit documents using Micorsoft Office 2013 applications on level 2 of the Stirling Campus Library and shortly afterwards in all other locations. Further information will be added when this feature is switched on.

Students can access Box by logging into the University Portal and following the link to Box on the left hand side of the screen (scroll down). Click on Continue under the heading Part of the University of Stirling? and login with your network login details if required.

Staff and Research Postgraduate students have had access to Box since October. More information about Box is available on this website: http://www.stir.ac.uk/newtech/box/
