European data sources – two resources to explore

Looking for data about the EU or a European country? The newly launched European Data Portal may have just what you need. This vast portal from the European Commission searches over 240,000 datasets of public sector information and open (government) data from 28 European countries. Categories of data include agriculture, fisheries, forestry and food; education, culture and sport and population and society.

Another useful resource for finding European data is Eurostat – the statistical office of the European Union. Data from Eurostat allows you to compare European countries and regions. If need to compare life expectancy across Europe, explore which countries have the highest or lowest number of air passengers or discover which countries spend the highest percentage of household income on clothing and footwear, then Eurostat will provide the answers.
