Internet service disruption, Tuesday 20th August

Following an unsuccessful attempt on 12/07/2013 to carry out a software upgrade on core network equipment, we have been in contact with our support provider and they have supplied advice which should allow the upgrade to be completed successfully. Therefore, there will be two short interruptions to all off-campus Internet services, sometime between 07:30 and 08:30 on Tuesday 20th August. During this window, staff from Systems and Network Services will reattempt the installation of recommended software updates. Each interruption will last for up to 3 minutes, with the second interruption occurring approximately 10 minutes after the first one. The one exception to this is the network service to Graphics & Print, which is likely to experience a single interruption lasting for approximately 10 minutes.

Most users should not notice any disruption and many applications will recover automatically if connections to external servers are interrupted. This work will affect users at all University of Stirling campuses.
