Pre-arrival Online Orientation Programme
Join five online pre-arrival sessions to build your confidence with university systems, academic skills, and expectations. You will explore key topics, including writing and critical thinking, connect with other students and hear from current students.
Sessions run from 5th – 9th January 2026, 14:00 – 15:00 (BST).

The Information Centre
Support with the following services is available at the Information Centre:
- Accessing your student portal
- Updating your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings
- Setting up Wi-Fi
- Navigating Canvas
- Installing Microsoft 365
- Accessing library resources
📍 You’ll find the Information Centre on Level 2 of the Library.
Student Support and Welcome Hub
The Student Support and Welcome Hub will be operating from 09:00–16:00, Monday, 19 January to Wednesday, 21 January.
The Student Welcome and Support Hub is where you can get all the information and support you need to get started at the University of Stirling. You’ll be able to get help with enrolment, support on visas and immigration, and ask queries about finance. Student Support Services will be on hand to answer any other questions you have.

Library and Canvas Essentials
Discover everything you need to know about the University of Stirling Library and IT services. From installing Office 365 for free to accessing our extensive digital and physical resources, we’re here to help you make the most of your time on campus.
We’ll walk you through Canvas, our virtual learning environment, showing you how to:
- Log in and personalise your dashboard
- Change the screen layout to suit your preferences
- Set up notifications so you never miss an update
- Navigate your modules with ease
- Locate your reading lists quickly
You’ll also learn where to go when you need help, whether it’s technical support, research skills, or library guidance. These are essential tools to support your learning and help you succeed.

Digital Skills for Students
Digital skills are now essential for study, work, and everyday life. The Digital Skills Hub supports students and staff in developing these capabilities by offering tailored resources and guidance. It includes a self-assessment tool (the JISC Discovery Tool) that provides personalised feedback and training, dedicated guidance on cyber security and AI literacy, and curated learning pathways covering seven key areas of digital competence – from communication and collaboration to digital creation and problem-solving.

Need help getting connected? Our friendly IT Wizards are on hand to support you with:
- Connecting your devices to eduroam Wi-Fi
- Installing Office 365 apps like Word, Excel, and Teams
- Navigating platforms like Canvas, Panopto, OneDrive, and the Library catalogue
- Logging into student printers and using print, copy, and scan features
