Your voice, your tech, your future – Canvas

Every year, the University of Stirling invites students to take part in the Jisc Digital Experience Insights Survey—a national initiative designed to understand how you use technology in your studies, how it supports your learning, and what digital skills you’re developing along the way.

This post will concentrate on the feedback we received about Canvas, that would make your digital experience better.

We had a lot of feedback from students saying that they found it difficult to navigate modules in Canvas as each department and even module co-ordinator set them up differently.

Our team took some time to conduct user experience sessions and review feedback from students and staff. You asked us to provide consistency across modules.

We acted on this feedback to develop a Canvas Baseline, We wanted to create an experience that looks, feels, and functions the same whether you’re on a laptop, tablet, or phone, and that in each module the content should be in the same locations.

While module content and teaching remain in the hands of your module coordinators, the Canvas Baseline, and its supporting template), provides a foundation to support the design and delivery of modules.

We hope students feel more confident as they move between modules.
