Celebrate Green Week in the Library

As Green Week (10th to 14th March) approaches, we are thrilled to announce our participation through a book swap and a book display. The main focus of this week is to encourage staff, students and our local community to adopt a greener lifestyle and take part in our eco-friendly events. From Natural Paper and Notebook Making workshops to BioBlitz sessions, there is something for everyone. So get ready to take action and join us for #StirGreenWeek!

Green Week Activities in the Library

Book Display and Reading List

During Green Week, you can explore our specially curated Green Week book display in the library. Additionally, we have put together a Green Week Reading List that features a selection of books on various sustainability topics.

Book Swap

Pick up a book from our free book swap located in the library wellbeing space. Swapping books is a great way to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By exchanging books, we can extend the life of each book, reduce the demand for new books, and minimise the environmental impact of book production and disposal. It’s an eco-friendly way to share knowledge and enjoy new reads without contributing to deforestation and carbon emissions.

BoB (Box of Broadcasts)

We have selected some playlists on BoB (Box of Broadcasts) where you can access content on sustainability topics. Explore these playlists to learn more about sustainability and how you can make a positive impact.

Green Libraries Manifesto

Recently, the library proudly signed the Green Libraries Manifesto. The Green Libraries Manifesto is an initiative hosted by CILIP in partnership with Arts Council England, the British Library, Libraries Connected, and Julie’s Bicycle. This manifesto sets out common values and commitments to drive transformational change for our planet and communities. By signing the manifesto, libraries commit to leading by example through their own environmental actions and using their power and reach to inform and inspire people to take positive action.

Get Involved

We encourage everyone to participate in these activities and to take action in their own lives to support sustainability. Whether it’s reducing waste, promoting biodiversity, or supporting active travel, every action counts. Together, we can make a difference.

Sustainability is not just for Green Week. Find out more about how staff and students can get involved in sustainability.
