As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) on Saturday 8th March, we are excited to announce a series of events and activities at the library to celebrate and honour the achievements of women. This year’s IWD theme is Accelerate Action, emphasising the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality.
Poster Display and Pledge Opportunity
Join us in the library for a special poster display, where you can make a pledge, take a photo, or pick up a colouring sheet. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your support for gender equality and reflect on women’s contributions to our community and beyond.
Strike the #AccelerateAction Pose
Strike the #AccelerateAction pose, and show your support by sharing your image and statement across social media using the hashtags #IWD2025 and #AccelerateAction. This collective activism is crucial for driving change and forging gender parity.

Countdown to IWD on Social Media
We are also participating in the Countdown to IWD on social media. Follow us for daily posts counting down to this important day. Use the hashtag #AccelerateAction to join the conversation and share your own stories and pledges.
Women’s History Month Book Display
Throughout March, we will have a Women’s History Month book display in the library. This curated collection features books that celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. We invite you to explore these stories and gain a deeper understanding of the impact women have had on our world. You can find more in our Womenโs History Month Reading List.
