  1. Would be nice to see an access database course at all levels being offered by the university. This is an area severely lacking in students who apply for jobs and would perhaps give your students an edge post university – it is also a course which would assist many post graduates with data management and analysis – linking with excel and spss.
I woudl also personally love to do an advanced course or find skilled staff willing to assist on specific problems??

  2. I am unable to attend either of the Xcel- creating charts and graphs seminar- will there be others before mid November?
    Thanks

  3. Hi Sue
I checked with our IS Training Team re the provision of Access training and they are regrettably at present, under resourced to provide such training. However they did draw my attention to the half units offered by Computing Science which include Access database training. You can find out more information about these on their website: http://www.cs.stir.ac.uk/courses/itskills/

  4. Hi Jacqueline, the next set of ‘open’ training classes (for staff and students) will run again in the spring semester. The schedule is likely to commence week beginning Monday 16 Feb (to be confirmed).

In the meantime, Anne in the Training team thought you might want to check out materials on the Information Services website: http://www.is.stir.ac.uk/itsupport/software/office.php#excel.

Also, Microsoft have some online Excel training that could be helpful. There are a series of links … I’ve added one of them below but additional options would be available from their site. Charts I: How to Create a Chart … how to use the Chart Wizard and what names chart parts have. http://office.microsoft.com/training/training.aspx?AssetID=RC011055061033

It might also be worth mentioning that if you find you are available/on campus after all it is worth coming along just before the Excel C&G course start times to check if a place is available. While we can’t guarantee a place becoming available, sometimes there are late cancellations or “no shows”.
