What do you think of StirGate? – Quick Poll on IS Home Page

***POLL NOW FINISHED***
StirGate is a new way of searching for journal articles, web sites and other useful publications, and we’d like to know what you think of it.

Let us know by clicking on the Quick Poll on the Information Services home page.

Far more important than X Factor, Celebrity Big Brother, Your Country Needs You, Strictly and Ice Dancing – we need your votes!

You probably didn’t get to vote for Obama – and now have an itchy feeling that you want to register your voice for something – this is your chance!!

Currently we only have access to StirGate for this academic session – but if you find it helpful then we’ll try find a way to keep it.

Don’t know what StirGate is? – see What is StirGate

  1. I’m a History PhD student and having just begun using StirGate I would say that it could save me hours in basic article searches, and indeed might well mean I don’t miss things I might otherwise have overlooked. Thanks for a great resource, I hope we can keep it!

  2. I can’t get stirgate to work at home, so its a bit useless as far as i’m concerned, it tells me i need cookies i enabled cookies and still gives me the same message

  3. Hi Sue, Sorry that cookies problem does sound annoying. This sounds like a browser related issue. I hadn’t realised that this might be a problem. But after some searching it seems that other libraries have reported problems with the AOL browser. It doesn’t have the functionality required for StirGate. If you’re using AOL, I think the only solution would be to use a different browser. So connect as normal using AOL, but then minimize AOL and open the separate browser. If you don’t have a separate browser you can download a free copy of Internet Explorer 7 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx or Firefox http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ I hope this helps.
